Registration / Enrollment
All athletes must be registered with Special Olympics Ontario before they can participate in any Special Olympics program. This only has to be done once. Go to the Special Olympics Ontario - Get Involved page and click on the appropriate button. This must be completed before you can enroll in any program.
Twice yearly, April and August, we share information about our spring /summer and fall/winter programs.
We accept online enrollments vial the portal, accessible from the appropriate button on the "Already A Registered Member" section of the Special Olympics Ontario - Get Involved page . Note that priority is given to returning athletes, but we do maintain waiting lists if necessary. Successful enrollment goes not guarantee a spot in any program - you will be contacted by the GDSO Registrar or the Head Coach / Team Manager of the program to confirm your status.
All applications (registration) will be done electronically.
• Athlete that are 18+, and have guardianship over themselves, can register themselves.
• Athletes Under 18, or 18+ but does not have guardianship, must use a family or group home account

Special Olympics Ontario - Greater Durham 2024/2025 Fall-winter Registration is now available.
Before you start the online information Please Read The information below.
1. If you already have a portal account DO NOT create a new account (this is for new athletes to SOO). This will create delays in processing your application.
2. If you have an account, but are not sure how to proceed, there are instructions available on the GDSO website see below (Using the Portal)
3. Only Fully Registered athletes will be approved (Waivers need to be completed)
4. Registering on the portal does NOT guarantee to you a spot in the program. It puts you on a list for a program
5. Priority is given to “returning athletes” to a program. The Team Managers/Head Coaches are responsible for this.
6. The cost of each program is not listed at this time. The cost will be similar to last year.
7. If you have questions regarding a specific program, please connect with the Head coach/Team manager. The registrar is responsible to assist with the registration process
